An increasing number of people are nowadays convinced that a basic aspect of any product put on the market is the evaluation of its environmental impact during its whole life cycle.

For many years the thought on the environmental defense prevailed.  Nowadays, the evolution of the individual consciousness and the increasing attention to life quality have made us aware of how the indiscriminate exploitation of the natural resources is a harmful and dangerous approach for the environment preservation. It is increasingly clear that our choices can make a difference!

New evidence of the global warming along with the loss of natural resources and the large scale effects of the environmental damages is on our mind. The increase of rubbish and how to organize waste disposal are more and more a real problem. People nowadays start to considering eco- friendly and recyclable packages.

In conformity with the general principles of a careful environmental policy, Miroglio Spinning Weaving Plants want to commit themselves to limit the environmental impact as far as the recycling of products made out of PET are concerned (eg. bottles and packages).

It is about materials that, after serving their purpose, from the common water bottle to the more complex package for gift and fancy goods, are thrown away and noticeably increase the waste disposing load. An ordinary product that we purchase is presented in increasingly complex packages; if we calculate the object volume and compare it to its package volume, we can deduce that 32% of room is taken up by the object and 68% by its package (destined to the dump).

These problems can and should be faced on a local scale. The cities are starting to organize services of recyclable-waste collection, while the industries should commit themselves to produce less polluting materials and make new products by using recycled material.

RECYCLED PET

PET is used to produce packages, bottles for water and drinks, packages for detergents, pharmaceutical products, etc. After the use, the PET containers are thrown away by the consumers and become waste, contributing to make those heaps of rubbish that besiege our cities.

• petroleum is not used for the production of the raw material and as a consequence non-renewable raw materials are not wasted

• a lower energy quantity is used during production, as the basic materials request less production steps

• less energy for the transportation of the basic materials is used (it is not necessary to transport petroleum by sea but it is enough to transport the recycled bottles from the nearby cities)

• the plastic waste in the dumps is noticeably reduced.
