Arselon - producer of polyoxadiazole yarns and fibers for high heat applications WHAT IS ARSELON?
ABOUTOpen Joint Stock Company "Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno" is a company with a 50-year history and rich tradition, which is one of Europe's largest producers of artificial and synthetic yarns.
They make exclusive fibers: polyoxadiazole fiber branded "Arselon” and carbon fiber under the brands "Ural", "Busofit" and "Carbopon”. In addition, they offer polyester textile and viscose technical yarns, nonwovens and polypropylene packaging, sports and protective apparel and much more.
The quality management system of our production is certified in accordance with ISO 9001-2001 and the standard of environmental management activities of the enterprise STB ISO 14001:2005. In addition, RUE SPA “Khimvolokno” has received international ecological certificate for compliance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This certificate applies to textiles, fibers and yarns used in the manufacture of textiles, and confirm the environmental safety of products.
The company is a part of the state corporation “Belneftekhim”, has extensive business and trade relations in the CIS and foreign countries. The geography of exports includes more than 40 countries over the world.
Thanks to the constantly introduction of modern technologies, modernization of production facilities, as well as cooperation with the leading textile institutes and scientific divisions of transnational corporations, we are expanding the range and improve product quality. Together with our clients we are looking for new solutions and we strive to meet the growing demands of the market.
FEATURES of POD: Formula:
Heat resistance Arselon and products made of it can be used long-term (up to 3 years) at high temperature up to 250 C, with notable withstanding of short-term heat shock up to 400 C. Thermal destruction begins at 500 C. Arselon fiber doesn’t melt. Arselon withstands the exposure of open fire, in inert media the material become carbonized. Oxygen index LOI for virgin fiber is 30% minimum. Arselon based fabrics can not be burned with overheated (600-700 C) sparkles. The fiber is applicable at cryogenic conditions as well.
High breaking strength and other properties. Average load at brake of the filament is 45cN/tex at 20 C and 27 cN/tex at 200 C. Break elongation is 10-15%. Load at elongation (LASE) 5% is in the range 31-41 N. The filament is very stable to withstand cyclic and static load. Arselon has high adhesion to rubber.
Chemical resistance Arselon fiber has high resistance to organic solvents and acids. It is stable to thinned inorganic acids and alkalis.
Natural humidity Humidity level of Arselon compares to viscose and cotton level (10-11%).
Low shrinkage Linear shrinkage at high temperatures (up to 400 C) is 0,5% max., that is significantly better versus other types of heat resistant fibers with high level of shrinkage.
Unique frictional properties Arselon has very low friction coefficient to the metal surface (below 0.2). This property is a key to successful using of Arselon in composite industry. The material is wear-resistant and not abrasive.
High electrical resistance: above 1014 Ohm · mm2 / m
A simple dying process of spun yarn and fabric (various colors) HEAT RESISTANT FILAMENT YARN ARSELON
This is the only fiber in the world based on poly-oxadiazole (POD) polymer, which is produced in industrial volumes. Initial raw materials are terephthalic acid (PTA), hydrazine-sulphate and oleum, which are chemical commodities. High thermal resistance allows 3 years fiber application at temperature 250 °C. The fiber withstands short-term heat shock at 400 °C with no shrinkage or melting.
The colors available are yellow and orange one with UV-protective additive. Dope dyeing is possible. APPLICATION
FILAMENT PROPERTIES
ARSELON® HEAT RESISTANT FILAMENT YARN
Arselon yarn withstands temperature up to 400 °C with no dimension changes and/or thermal destruction. At 430 °C initial thermal destructive process is starting, and intensive destruction starts only at 450-470 °C. In non-oxidative atmosphere Arselon filament will be carbonized at high temperature.
Low metal friction coefficient (below 0.2) allows using of the fiber as well as fabric and pulp for composites, especially for heavy-loaded sliding bearings. Arselon has highly electrical insulating properties.
Arselon is highly resistive to organic acids and solvents, oils, mineral oil, has middle level of resistance to diluted inorganic acids and alkalis.
STAPLE FIBER ARSELONAs the production process was designed alternatively to meta-aramid fibers, thus by its properties Arselon is very similar to various meta-aramid fibers.
The staple fiber Arselon is a basis for spun yarns and felts (non wovens) which further can be processed into many kinds of materials for thermal application.
