Fugafil

Fugafil is a company located in Raesfeld in Westphalia whose business is the production of specialty monofilament yarns and industrial fabrics.

From simple beginnings as a weaving firm the present company has developed into an enormously-versatile "problem-solver" for the textile branch - and in the following pages we would like to portray the full range of our products as well as our potential for innovation.

The name, F and G Filaments, can be explained as originating from the Cologne energy technology company, Felten and Guilleaume. Founded in Raesfeld in 1956 as the saran^® Weaving Mill the young firm initially produced "only" awning materials, car upholstery fabrics and roller blind fabrics. The first mailbags made from synthetic material were produced in the firm, the ties for them being cut from plastic foil and rolled up by hand.

In 1961 the historical development of our company began with the signing of the leasehold agreement for the site "Ostring 22", the planning application and the laying of the foundation stone. At the same time an application to make extensions was made. In the following years continual further development and extension took place, including the construction of several factory buildings and the setting up of a laboratory. 

Finally, in 1973/74 the extrusion plant was acquired from the previous supplier and our own thread production was developed. Simultaneously the name FUGAFIL^® was established, although the administration and the sales department were still operating in Cologne. Then, on 1^st January 1986, came a major development. Both firms were acquired by new shareholders and joined together in the firm FUGAFIL-saran GmbH & Co KG, the administration and the sales department coming to Raesfeld.

In 1999 the purchase of the local authority building department's yard from the town of Raesfeld (an area of approximately 10,000 square meters) started the current phase of development: in the early part of 2000 the ceremonial first spade cut for the new weaving mill (approx. 2,000 square meters) was performed by the mayor, Udo Rößing. And in the following autumn the consolidated and extended departments moved into their new premises.

Today Fugafil is a fully-operational enterprise, possessing ISO certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001-2000 and belonging to the highly-competitive DAUN-Group.

The philosophy is founded on working partnerships in which Fugafil elevates to principles of customers' specific requirements as to fabrics and end products as well as the no-compromise awareness of quality. Partnership and mutual co-operation characterize our definition of communication both externally and internally - after all, we are dealing with human beings whether as customers or as employees. From this it follows almost automatically that, as far as is possible, in our dealings with them we are helpful and accommodating. In other words service to our customers comprises a whole series of factors and it operates at the same high level as our products.

		Monofilaments Monofile innovation in the case of thread - learning from practical experience The possibilities of using monofilaments (and multifilaments) threads are more than varied. As a result we make the following products from them: fabric for technical lighting, supporting fabrics and FUGALUX for architecture, the sun blind fabric saran®-screen, various filter and sieve fabrics, supporting fabrics for coatings, gumming processes and laminates, saran®-bath fabric , space and double fabrics, insect-protection fabrics, greenhouse covers and many more.
Since threads - especially monofilaments - are our passion, we go even further with individual solutions. So, for example, we have developed a thread for shock-absorber fabric of which the material distortion is up to 60% less than that of conventional shock-absorbers. Another example - a thread which is used in special conveyor belts in the food industry. Or, or, or ...
	Delivery of small quantities and in almost all colors is possible.

Kugafil® KUGAFIL®, the"yarn inside a coat ": There is simply more to it ... KUGAFIL® is a further development of our business and as such is a classic example of an application-orientated solution. The unique "yarn enclosed in a coat", obtained in a two-layer process, combines in itself the special properties of different synthetics.   Thus, for example, on the one hand it shows a clearly higher tensile strength in the core and on the other hand (only) a slight blending quality - characteristics which come from two different elements.   KUGAFIL® facilitates coating, covering and laminating with other materials without having to use adhesives. Therefore, from KUGAFIL® widely differing products like laminated materials, conveyor belts, paper sieves/screens, dry belts, filter candles and many more are made.   KUGAFIL®'s fascinating qualities did not come into existence just by chance.
