ceramic has a wide variety of possible applications. The sintered PZT ceramic fiber stretches when exposed to alternating voltage, thereby producing sound waves. Consequently, this fiber is used in ultrasound technology. Composite fiber components based on ceramic are  used in medical end uses. Also various sports accessories, such as tennis rackets or winter sports equipment are reinforced by ceramic fibers which in these applications have a vibration-damping effect.

To manufacture functional fiber, amine oxides and water are used to separate the cellulose directly and without chemical modification, and the textile fibers are then produced in a spinning process. The ability to mix organic and inorganic additives homogeneously into the fibers makes it possible to produce various functional materials on this common cellulose base.
