UV Stabilizing of HDPE monofilaments The breaking strength of HDPE monofilaments is reduced by UV exposure. The reduction of the breaking strength depends on exposure time, exposure intensity, temperatures, chemical and mechanical influences. Therefore exact values of the impact cannot be forecasted. Kly = Kilo-Langley = 1000 Langley. 1 Kly = 1 Kcal/cm² The reduction of the breaking strength is measured in number of years which pass until the breaking strength has reached 50% of its original value. Our experience and Lab tests on Xenotest 1200 provide following values for monofilaments in natural colours:
Our black shades contain about 2% carbon black and they meet minimum the requirements UV level 2. In Vitagrass monofilaments for artificial grass the standard shades are as below:
